Creating Small Worlds

Creating Small Worlds

Where to start...

We see so many examples of small world play on IG stories, from the kitchen prepped dinner plate, with rice (white and coloured), dried beans and lentils (fabulous colours, sizes and shapes), dried pasta, jelly etc. right through to the other end of the spectrum and the $1000 creation.

You can start anywhere...a few coloured scarves (white, different blues and aquas) will create a wonderful ocean, a grassy meadow will be easy to create using (a variety of greens, lemon and yellow). If you don't have scarves at home, your local op shop will always have a huge variety to choose from.

Depending on what small world you choose to build, will determine where you need to start fossicking, if its the ocean, a beach is the best start (we are not all lucky enough to live near a beach) or you may find your favorite online store or local Cheap as Chips sells shells etc. in small bags. Your fairy small world is as easy as going into the garden and picking a few flowers, finding a few small pebbles, dried beans from the pantry for the garden paths, blue rice for the pond etc. Dinosaur small worlds are great fun to build, black, red, yellow and orange scarves, out into the garden to find rocks and gravel, black plant pots turned upside down to create a volcano, pull coloured ribbons or coloured paper through the holes (in the bottom of the pot) to create fire and lava, small branches for trees etc. the possibilities are endless, let your imagination run wild and have fun.

On our website we have an enormous range of ocean creatures, fairies, dinosaurs, animals, trees, play mats available to enable you to create the small world that you desire.

If you want to start your small world with one fish or 10 fish we cater to that, you can start small and build over time or jump in and create a thriving underwater world, fairy garden, farm or dinosaur jungle from day one.

We are always happy to help, if you have any questions or you would like help in choosing a gift, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Have a wonderful week,
